4/26: Day after surgery updates: Both babies had a rough night and day today. We were told to expect this for a few days following the surgery, but it is still hard to take. Blood pressures up and down, oxygen levels up and down, and Harper in particular was struggling with her oxygen all day. We were only allowed to touch them minimally so it was just watching them today and wishing their pain could go away. As the baby morphine levels wore off, they would get agitated and then get another dose.
We were given good news today about Robbie's brain bleed. The doc told us the last brain scan showed the bleed is trying to resolve itself and is "organizing" itself within the brain. It is not worse and it is resolving. Her exact words regarding this were, "I'm actually quite amazed by this, really." My sister, Linda, has been doing Reiki healing on the kids everyday since their birth. This is a Japanese spiritually based hands on healing that allows for recovery of almost any illness. Linda became formally trained in this several years ago in Sedona. I think this is a contributing factor of the strength of the kids and of Robbie's brain.
My friend Theresa has called churches and asked for our babies to be put on their prayer lists. This means a lot to me that she took the time to do this and I think prayer in numbers is also a contributing factor in the kids staying strong and getting better. Everybody we know is sending prayers and positive thoughts and we thank you.
We put the babies on our church's prayer rolls too and think/pray of them often too. These babies are so loved!
