Future Predictions

Nothing is impossible. The word itself says "I'm possible!"
Audrey Hepburn

When Pete looks at Harper, he thinks she looks
       like the actress Carey Mulligan
with her side smirk and little girl hair.

Take it for what it's worth because his nickname for Robinson is
"Mr. Monopoly,"
because he has a round light haired head
(and oxygen tubes that look like a mustache).

Karla thinks the kids will be musical because the nurses have played them classical music from about 28 weeks on, everyday. She also believes they will be able to handle chaos well since they are surrounded by bells and whistles, alarms and crying babies all day long and seem relatively unaffected by it. Despite what one might imagine, nicus are a very noisy place. We have been told that preemies have a hard time sleeping once they get home to their quiet nursery, and only vacuuming, radios and tv can cure it.

Linda thinks Robbie will have a true love with Harper, want her approval, and idolize her. When we lay Robs and Harps together, he smells her hair for awhile and lays his cheek on her arm and falls asleep. Harper acts annoyed and wants her own space.

The nurses think Harper will be the instigator, Robbie will follow her every move but not instigate himself. She often pulls a stunt first and then Robbie will do the same thing hours later, like pull out her feeding tube and hold it in her hand, or her oxygen will be out of her nose and on her forehead.

The babies are over 6 lbs now (6 lbs 7 oz and 6 lbs 4 oz) and are 38 weeks gestation. If I were still pregnant, I would likely be on bed rest and ready to pop.

The babies are starting to act more like newborns, they want to be held more, and are getting very frustrated with the oxygen tubes and feeding tubes in their noses.

Most of the nurses agree and comment that these are 2 very laid back children. They hardly fuss over anything, and are resilient to everything going on around them. Many people have commented that Rob looks like a mini Pete and Harper looks like a mini Me.

Susie says the kids have always been morning people. Around 4am they both have their eyes wide awake and are looking around. I told her I would let her know if that stays true, but if it does we will all know they got it from their dad.

My predictions:
Harper is more serious, perhaps will be the academic in the duo. She notices things from a distance, and makes mental notes. She seems to be an old soul, has a way about her that is calm and graceful. She is easy going and will quietly give to others. She is a very special person, I can sense this about her.

Robbie is always more playful, smirk-y and flirty, easy going. Everyone loves him for his cute face and how can he always seem to give a little smile at exactly the right time. He has a sensitivity about him, wants to nuzzle his face into your neck. He can also stare you down from across a room, squints his eyes, if he doesn't like something, he is no push over, despite what he may seem like from a distance. He is sensitive and funny, reminds me every day of his dad.

One more thing: This is a picture of the kids' future babysitters..............Ian and Malia McIntosh......

They have been in the Harper and Robbie fan club since day 1.
