"The babies coming home is a great victory,
like winning the first game of a 162-game season,
except they played the first few innings
without gloves or bats."
Pete Basaldu
We are counting down the hours ......... Leaving the hospital without the babies for the last time tonight and we are finding ourselves very emotional. A couple sets of 24 week twins have come into the nicu this week and all the feelings and emotions are coming back to us. We see preemie parents walking around in a daze.
It has been a long road and we are so grateful to the St. Joes staff. It's getting hard to say goodbye. We find ourselves staring endlessly at the babies. How can we possibly say thank you?
SO EXCITING! This is so crazy amazing and great news! It's making water come out of my eyes to picture the perfect little family all tucked in at home and together...finally together! It's a beautiful thing. I'm so happy for you. Words cannot express...xxxxxxxxxxooooooooooooo
ReplyDeleteSuch a good quote, Peba! Hi-larious!

ReplyDeleteI am so excited for you guys! I know it's been quite the journey, Harper and Robbie are fighters and they are going to be perfectly fine at home;) I hope to visit them soon, it has been a pleasure taking care of them, they will be missed here at St Joes!
ReplyDeleteThose photos are so precious. I love the one of Harper nuzzled into Robbie, and I love that Robbie's alligator now seems so much smaller!
ReplyDeleteJojo! OMG!!! I had no idea what you have been going through. You had babies! How wonderful, and yet very emotional! ~ Congratulations~
ReplyDeleteYou and Dad (Pete) look great and so do Karla & Gary! I know the roller coaster that you have been on. I too had a premie! Although having 2 is much more draining. Jillian was born 2months early and I had an emergency C-section in Milwaukee, she was in the NICU for 3 weeks, I would have to drive there sometimes 2x daily, since I had a 3yr old at home. She was able to leave when her weight was up to 5lbs and came home on a heart monitor, which she was on at home for 2 weeks. (darn thing was always going off, cuz she hated it being on and would pull it off or move to much). She is now a HIGHLY active 9 year old and EVERYONE says she is a mini me! Children are great, mine are my pride and joy and I can not imagine life without them.
I wish you luck and hope it's smooth sailing from here on out. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Keep in touch and we'll swap stories....Say hi to your mom & dad for me, please.
Love ya my friend,
Cory Bersch Hansen
