Nicu Friends

The twins were in the nicu with several babies that we came to know very well. The parents have gone through all the same daily emotions we have experienced.
Here are a few of Robbie and Harper's first friends.

Marleigh

Marleigh was in the nicu on the day the twins were born. She has experienced many of the same stages our kids went through. Her mom and dad have also stayed at the Ronand McDonald House and gave us lots of advice from the beginning. Marleigh taught the kids how to belt out a cry when they were ready, when they did not have the ability to make sound, but Marleigh showed them how it would be done. We are cheering on the day Marleigh will be able to go home. Her parents have been an inspiration for us.

Brock
(Picture to be entered here)
Brock was born a few weeks after the twins, and was an amazing role model for them. He was so strong from the beginning, and soared through all the preemie stages. Like us, his parents were in a daze for a couple of weeks, and we sought comfort in each other several times. Brock went home a few weeks before the twins and is doing a great job keeping mom and dad on their toes.

Jimmy and Andrew

Jimmy is called "Baby Blue Jay," and Andy is called "The Little Frog Prince."

Andy's heart stopped beating just prior to delivery
Jimmy tried so very hard to breathe

Jimmy and Andrew were twins born at a similar gestational age as our twins (but about 6 days earlier) at St. Joes in June 2011. They are watching over our babies from "their perch in heaven" as their mother has insisted they do. Since we put Jimmy and Andrew's pictures above our twins' crib, both our babies have done great. They are the guardian angels of our babies as well as their own family and we love them for that. They have done a remarkable job so far. We believe their spirits are in our nursery along with their beautiful pictures and blankets. It is comforting for us to know the twins have the boys watching over them. We ask the boys for their assistance from time to time.
