5 Lbs of Spectacular.....Harper's Post

Today Harper made it to her 5 lb goal. She was 5 lbs 1 oz today, and Robbie weighed in at 5 lbs 3 oz.

Harper is such an incredibly amazing girl it makes me emotional to even write about her. She is so strong; she does anything we ask her to do. She takes a bottle, practices breast feeding, lets us dress her up in girly clothes and headbands, and even seems to look over at her brother when we take her out of the crib as if to say, "See you later." She just has a sense about her, it really makes you wonder what she's thinking. She holds her pacifier in her mouth with one or both hands because she doesn't want it to fall out. Maybe all babies do this, I don't know.....but it feels so genius to me.

Before the kids came, I hoped they would both look like Pete, with his perfect olive skin, dark hair (yes, he has had hair in the past) and dark eyes. Now when people tell me she looks just like me with all her hair and light eyes, I feel so proud to be a mom.

Harper loves to be held, sung to, and loves her mobile above her bed that plays classical music. She looks me in the eyes while breast feeding, which every woman knows is an incredible feeling.

To think that she was born at 1 lb 5 oz, is incredible. To think she had her dad's wedding ring on her arm when she was born is shocking. The doctor's told us she was so strong when she was born, she came out fighting to breathe on her own. We think Harper will be ready to come home in about 2-3 weeks and Robinson shortly after that.
