4/29: Pete's sister Maria drove to town from LA to offer support, meet the babies and cook delicious meals for Pete and I. She is a great cook and it was nice to have some comfort food. The babies were so excited to meet Auntie Maria. She got to watch Pete change the babies diapers, he's becoming a real pro.
4/28: Harper and Robbie have a new friend named Becky and she loved them from first sight. She was astonished by the sight of their tiny diapers and took one home to show Denise.
4/23: Our friends, Leslie and Lou, stopped by today to have a cafeteria dinner and offer support. They told us about their nephew who is 8 years old and was born 1 lb, at 24 weeks. They showed me pictures and he's a cute kid with his cute glasses and is bright and energetic. We love the inspirational stories.
4/16: Pete's mom Jessi was the first out of town visitor the kids met. She flew in from CA and spent a week with us at Ronald McDonald house. She cleaned our entire house, went grocery shopping, made dinners, and did laundry. She loved the babies from first sight and constantly remarked how perfect they were.
4/21: Our good friends, the Driver family, came by to bring inspiration. Their daughter Maggie, in front, was a 1 lb 5 oz micro preemie. They spent 3 months in the Nicu 18 years ago. Today, she is preparing for college in the fall, has a 4.0 GPA, and is a beautiful and gifted person. She showed us a small scar on her neck, and told us she occasionally has lack of cold/hot sensation on her feet from all the lab pricks. Other than that, she has no side effects of being a micro preemie. (She is a petite person but her mother is also very petite). Since we are not allowing ourselves to google anything about preemie babies, it has been great for Pete and I to have inspiration brought to us to see in person. They met the babies and Maggie could not believe how teeny, tiny she used to be. Jon is a very inspirational person, and I think it helped Pete to spend some time with an old friend who has "been there." Cost billed to their insurance company: $950,000.
