Babies in nicu's can sleep on their tummy and they sure love it. At home, newborns don't get put on their tummies but since nicu babies are monitored constantly, they allow it and both twins love it and sleep forever in this position. Today the nurse saw Robbie trying to stretch out and since he was on his tummy, he arched his back and stretched his arms forward. She said it looked like he was trying to crawl right out of his bed. Today Robbie is 1 lb 12 oz and growing bigger and stronger. He is still eating every 3 hours and eats more and more, he is tolerating breast milk perfectly. The nurses call him feisty, he is in constant movement and has excessive energy. Remind you of anyone?
Harper is weighing in at 1 lb 10.5 oz. We are told they may be at 2 lbs by the end of next week, when they are 1 month old. She always does well, she has no real issues with breast milk except for little spit ups, has regular poops and pees, and loves holding time. She is not restless like Robbie, she is very calm. Heart and head scans are great. Her hands and fingers are so long and delicate and glamorous, she has been called a hand model from the nurses. The tiniest hand model in history!
Their monitors continue to beep at the same time.
Pete and his son napping away. This is when Robbie is truly his most content (and maybe someone else too). |
